Log Store

I have completed 8 new blog postings today from our 40th Wedding Anniversary so thought I would finish off with the new log store I built from scratch which I am very pleased with. It is temporary filled with the old pine tree which I had to take down last year due to the roots coming through the tarmac drive. The unit stacked on the left is a bike store which when erected will become a coal store as we have a multi fuel burner. You will see on the slate roof I did cheat by laying the top layer of slates long ways not vertical as this was the last of the slates from when we had the house roof re-slated. Now fitted with guttering which allows the water to flow into the water butt and the water from it will be watering the pots outside the kitchen. Next big job is to split the logs at the bottom of the garden & bring them up and stack them ready to season.

Lyme Regis

Said to Ros we will take the coast route back home and one of the places we had never stopped at was Lyme Regis & it was a very nice surprise. Wonderful managed Victorian gardens all the way down to the beach which we were unable to walk on because dogs are banned from April, Still had a lovely walk along side the beach past the beach huts & around into the village which was a nice hour and half walk. Also on way home stopped off at Exmouth and visited A la Ronde

West Bay near Bridport

Been past the road junction many times to West Bay but never visited! so we decided to park in the village for a walk around then noticed the sandy beach! had an enjoyable 2 hour walk along the length of the beach. Was amazed by the cliff falls in fact was a little unnerving being so close to the cliffs when they are so high!

After parking up in the nature reserve car park you have to walk through the woods to get to Thomas Hardy cottage thankfully it was another sunny day & an enjoyable short walk.
